PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Yee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Kissinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Yee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Henry Kissinger!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Yee. Kissinger does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kissinger misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kissinger shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Yee eats them both and turns towards Kissinger to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Jason Yee has been cut.
Yee throws a series of strikes that have Kissinger backpedaling.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kissinger misses with a looping right.
Sloppy strikes from Yee. Those never looked like landing.

Kissinger uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Yee.

Kissinger closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Yee is trying to control Kissinger's posture but Kissinger avoids it.
Yee sneaks back into half guard.
Kissinger is trying to control. Yee wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kissinger wants to pass the guard but Yee is defending well.

Yee moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Yee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kissinger's guard.
Yee slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Kissinger is trying to get back to half guard.
The referee asks Yee politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Yee prefers to stall for the moment though.
Kissinger is trying to control Yee's posture but Yee avoids it.
Kissinger manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Yee is pressing down on Kissinger's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kissinger is holding on for now.
Kissinger is staying active underneath Yee, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Yee wants to get back to his feet.

Kissinger is looking for a triangle but Yee pushes his legs off easily.

Kissinger has his foot on Yee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yee works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Yee will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kissinger throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Yee sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Yee blocks a jab.
Horrible takedown by Kissinger or perhaps it was just good defense by Yee which made him look bad.

Yee forces Kissinger back against the cage and clinches.
Yee lands an elbow inside.

Kissinger decides to pull guard.
Yee passes Kissinger's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kissinger manages to get to full guard.
Yee passes Kissinger's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kissinger is trying to get back to full guard.

Kissinger actively working from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kissinger is looking to improve his position.
Yee wants to control but Kissinger is keeping him busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yee is controlling the pace.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Yee's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Jason Yee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kissinger is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jason Yee has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kissinger lands with a straight right. Yee didn't see that one coming.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kissinger throws a chopping leg kick but Yee manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Kissinger with a hook.
Kissinger moves away from the strike by Yee.
Yee lands a jab to the head.
Kissinger gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kissinger tries to keep at a distance but Yee has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kissinger lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Yee lands a nice elbow.
Yee misses with an elbow strike.
Yee misses with an elbow strike.
Kissinger misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kissinger jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Yee walks away with a smile on his face. Kissinger gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Yee on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Kissinger has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Kissinger slips under a jab from Yee.
Yee tries to clinch up.
Jason Yee is winning the standup battle so far.
Yee changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kissinger moves out of range as Yee strikes.
Yee connects with the punch.
Yee connects with a right that clearly hurt Kissinger. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Yee proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Kissinger collapses and taps out under the pressure!
