PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cyprien Noe Cyr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Street (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cyr comes into the arena with Frog Song blaring out of the sound system. Street is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Truth. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Michael Street enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cyprien Noe Cyr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Street!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Street lands a head shot.


It looks like Cyprien Noe Cyr has been cut.
Nice defenses there by Cyr.
Cyr bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Street's head.
Street with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Street scores with a nice strike.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Street swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cyr moves away from the strike by Street.
Street needs to keep his hands up - Cyr had a free shot at his head there.
Cyr blocks a head kick by Street.
Cyr throws a shot to the body.
Cyr misses with a wild body shot.
Cyr throws a sloppy head kick and Street moves out of range easily.

A head kick lands from Cyr that sends Street to the canvas. Street tries to scramble back to his feet but Cyr brings him back down into side control.
You can see the frustration on Street's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Street tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cyr wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Cyr is looking to take a break and control but Street is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Street gets back to half guard.
Street tries to get to full guard but Cyr has control of the leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cyr is working for a submission of some sort.

Cyr seems to be working for a kimura but Street defends the submission attempt.
Street tries to get to full guard but Cyr has control of the leg.

Cyr is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Street felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Street tries to kick Cyr off but Cyr keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Street manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Street utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cyr is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Cyr working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Street's head.


Street is rocked!
Cyr seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Street is still in real trouble! Can Cyr finish him?

Cyr drops back looking for a leg! Street is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Street manages to kick Cyr off! Cyr jumps back into Street's guard.
Cyr working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Street can't keep his opponent in guard - Cyr advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Street has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cyr is working away from the top position though.
Street tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Cyr has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Cyr controlling from the full mount.

Cyr working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Cyr looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Street covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
