PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Gold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sherlock Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank Gold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sherlock Frost!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frost shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gold as he avoids it easily.
Frost moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Gold throws the kick towards the body but Frost avoids it.
Gold tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Frost defends well and Gold ends up having to push Frost into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gold has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Frost after a bit of a struggle.

Frost successfully pulls guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Gold seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gold trying to control the position from guard on top but Frost is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gold lands a couple of digs.
Gold stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frost swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Frost is looking to stand up but Gold isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frost utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gold advances position into side control!
Gold controlling from side mount.
Gold trying to control the action but Frost is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Frost is trying to improve his position.
Gold wants to stand but Frost is controlling his arm.
Gold tries to advance to mount but can't.

Gold tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gold has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Frost tries to improve position but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gold tries to stand but Frost is controlling his head.

Gold working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Frost is letting Gold control him for a moment.
Gold trying to control the action but Frost is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frost is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Frost should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Gold looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

We're going to have a standup here because Frank Gold wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Frost shoots and misses

and Gold counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Frost!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gold controlling from side mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Frost is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Gold dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Frost clinches up against the cage.

Frost manages to break the clinch.

Gold bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gold working the ground and pound.
Gold working away.
Frost tries to improve position but can't.
Frost looking for a sweep but Gold has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Frost is trying to stand but he's just given Gold his back.
Frost rolls, trying to escape but Gold keeps control of the position.
Gold just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gold trying to control momentarily.
Frost tries to roll but Gold sticks to his back.

Gold has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Frost! Can he survive? No! He's out! Gold gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Frank Gold!
