PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jan Blachowicz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Nilsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blachowicz kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Radogost - Tam skąd pochodzę. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Nilsson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Blachowicz rushes Nilsson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Blachowicz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Blachowicz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nilsson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Blachowicz backs up against the cage.
Blachowicz throws a push kick but Nilsson slaps the foot to one side.

Nilsson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Blachowicz doesn't seem bothered though.

Nilsson scores with the left hand. Blachowicz knows he should have avoided that one.
Nilsson stalks Blachowicz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Blachowicz's face. Blachowicz staggers backwards, shaken.

Blachowicz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nilsson as he avoids it easily.

Blachowicz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Blachowicz content to control rather than advance.
Blachowicz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nilsson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Blachowicz moves into full mount! Nilsson won't be happy about that!

Blachowicz is looking to work his way around to Nilsson's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

That was a close round but I would say that Jan Blachowicz will probably get the nod.

Nilsson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Blachowicz.
Nilsson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Nilsson throws a right hand that Blachowicz ducks under and follows up with a left that Blachowicz also avoids with ease.
Blachowicz feints and then cracks Nilsson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Nilsson down.

Nilsson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Blachowicz to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nilsson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Blachowicz manages to pass to side control.

Nilsson tries to kick Blachowicz off but Blachowicz keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Blachowicz moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nilsson has worked his arm free - good work by Nilsson!

Blachowicz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nilsson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
