Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Toshi Matoshin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Kersikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matoshin comes to the ring accompanied by Mortal Kombat theme. Kersikov is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Toshi Matoshin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Kersikov!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matoshin throws a lazy right hand but Kersikov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Matoshin moves into range and connects with a jab.
Kersikov attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Toshi Matoshin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kersikov.
Kersikov throws a nice outside leg kick.
Matoshin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Kersikov turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kersikov scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Matoshin shoots in for a double leg but Kersikov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kersikov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Matoshin.
Kersikov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Matoshin.
Matoshin misses with a low kick.

Matoshin throws the left hand but Kersikov avoids the punch easily.
Kersikov connects with an inside leg kick.
Kersikov lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Kersikov dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Matoshin. That did some damage!
Matoshin tries to move into range but Kersikov moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Kersikov misses with a hook. Matoshin ducked under it nicely.
We've been hearing reports that Matoshin has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Kersikov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Matoshin defends well and Kersikov ends up having to push Matoshin into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Matoshin fails to pull guard.

Matoshin gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Kersikov working a defensive guard but Matoshin manages to pass into side control anyway.
Kersikov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Kersikov gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Matoshin is pressing down on Kersikov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kersikov is holding on for now.
Kersikov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Matoshin is working away from the top position though.

Matoshin wants to pass to mount but Kersikov is defending the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Matoshin decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Kersikov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Toshi Matoshin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kersikov uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Matoshin has time to react.
Kersikov leaves Matoshin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kersikov lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


It looks like Toshi Matoshin has been cut.

Kersikov throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

No luck for Matoshin with that takedown attempt.
Matoshin takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Matoshin throws a hook to the side of Kersikov's head but Kersikov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Matoshin tests Kersikov's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Matoshin counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kersikov tries a head kick but it misses.
Matoshin missing with a left hand there. Kersikov was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That kick from Kersikov tenderised Matoshin's leg. Matoshin is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kersikov needs to keep his hands up - Matoshin had a free shot at his head there.
Kersikov feints and then cracks Matoshin's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Matoshin down.
Matoshin throws an overhand right that lands on Kersikov's shoulder, as Kersikov tries to avoid the shot.
A head kick misses from Matoshin.
Roman Kersikov seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Matoshin pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Matoshin is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
A swing and a miss from Matoshin.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kersikov.
Kersikov lands with a hook. Matoshin tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Kersikov blocks a head kick by Matoshin.
Kersikov throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Matoshin throws a lazy uppercut

and Kersikov counters with a shoot takedown. Matoshin fights it but they end up in guard.

Matoshin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kersikov is aware though and is defending well.
Kersikov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kersikov lands a nice forearm strike.
Kersikov wants to control but Matoshin is keeping him busy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Matoshin gets back to half guard.
Kersikov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Kersikov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kersikov uses his free foot to push down on Matoshin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Matoshin.

Kersikov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Matoshin is rocked!

Kersikov trying to control but Matoshin is having none of it.
Kersikov lands with some strikes.
Kersikov working the ground and pound effectively.
Oh Matoshin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kersikov tries to control but Matoshin wriggling away.
Kersikov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Matoshin haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Matoshin seems to have got his legs back now.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kersikov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Kersikov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Matoshin is bucking up trying to escape but Kersikov cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kersikov postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Matoshin out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Kersikov goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Roman Kersikov!
Roman Kersikov seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
