PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Master Yi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Like a Rose-A1 kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Yi has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Bj Penn will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn darts in and clinches Yi up against the cage.
Penn is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Penn lands a good knee to the midsection. Yi won't want to take too many of those.
Yi misses with a hook from the clinch.
Penn holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Penn missing with knees to the body.
Yi blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Yi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Penn walks away with a smile on his face. Yi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Penn takes the fight into the clinch.
Penn lands a nice shot to the body.
Yi is breathing heavily.
Penn tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Yi avoids it.
Penn works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Penn blocks an uppercut.
Yi misses with a punch on the inside.
Knees to the body from Penn.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yi misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Yi keeps control of Penn as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Yi trying to control the position but instead, Penn has worked for underhooks and has pushed Yi into the cage.
A body shot lands from Yi.
Yi trying to stall but Penn improves his position.
Penn is looking to break free of the clinch but Yi has double underhooks.
Yi tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Penn blocks an uppercut.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Yi pulls Penn into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but Yi is retaining full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Penn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Penn is sitting in close to Yi's body. Yi has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Penn is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Penn is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Yi.
