Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Owen Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Kim!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Castle looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Kim throws an ugly left hook that misses

so Castle counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Castle won't allow Kim to get back to his feet.
Castle wants to control from the top but Kim keeps moving.
Kim keeping full guard, as Castle tries to pass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Castle not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Owen Castle.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kim. Castle does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kim throws a body punch but Castle moves out of range.
Castle moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kim takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Good standup being displayed there by Kim as he connects with a hook.

Owen Castle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Castle thows a body shot but no joy.

Castle ducks under a wild hook from Kim.
Kim fails to land with a series of punches.
Daniel Kim is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Castle misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kim.

Kim fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kim throws a looping overhand right but Castle ducks down to avoid it.
Castle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Castle closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kim's guard.
Kim keeping moving, preventing Castle from controlling successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kim can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kim wants to stand up but Castle is controlling him.
Kim working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Castle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Castle's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kim lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Castle!
Castle is trying desperately to improve position.
Castle is working hard here to advance position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kim wants to stand but Castle is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kim prevents Castle from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Owen Castle dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Castle keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Castle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kim was well out of range. Poor timing from Castle.
Kim dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Castle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Castle bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kim tries to sprawl but Castle drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Kim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Castle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Castle wants to free his trapped foot but Kim is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kim wants to get back to his feet.
Castle wants to control but Kim is keeping him busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kim is in trouble now - Castle has advanced to mount!
Kim felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Castle trying to control but Kim is having none of it.
Kim is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kim is trying to escape the mount.
Castle throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kim because Castle loaded up on that one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kim reaches up to try and control the position but Castle seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Kim rolls and tries to escape and now Castle has his back!

Castle has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kim's body.
Owen Castle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Castle is hanging on to Kim's back as he tries to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kim won't enjoy being in this position. Castle looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Kim is tapping - it's over boys! Castle picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Owen Castle!
