PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jorma Kultane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koa Kalua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koa Kalua told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Jorma Kultane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Koa Kalua!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalua connects with a right hand. Kultane shakes it off.
Kultane shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kultane shoots for a double leg takedown but Kalua sprawls well. He's pushed Kultane's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kultane shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kalua but Kalua pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jorma Kultane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kultane dives in for a single leg takedown but Kalua sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kultane blocking some punches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Kalua lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Kalua lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Kultane's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Kalua lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Kalua misses with a punch on the inside.
Kultane goes for a takedown attempt but Kalua pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Kultane shoots in for a takedown but Kalua shows good takedown defense.
Kalua stuffs the takedown attempt from Kultane. Kultane gets slowly back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kalua cracks Kultane with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kultane looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Kalua finish him?

Kultane is rocked!

It looks like Jorma Kultane has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kultane takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Oh Kultane is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kultane is breathing heavily.
Kalua connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Kultane out cold! This one is over in a flash!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Koa Kalua!
A less than humble Koa Kalua misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
