The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza with a poor takedown
and Sherman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Leonardro Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Souza moves into the clinch.

Souza is trying to trip Sherman. He has hold of a leg but Sherman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Souza persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Sherman pulls Souza in close to prevent any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Aviya Sherman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Souza fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Souza tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sherman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Souza shoots in but Sherman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Aviya Sherman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonardro Souza.
Souza changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sherman tries to avoid it but Souza manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sherman to the ground. Sherman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Sherman, as that shot connected.

Souza's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sherman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Souza scrambles back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Souza shoots for a takedown but Sherman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sherman seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

That kick from Sherman tenderised Souza's leg. Souza is trying to keep his angry face on.
Sherman smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Sherman pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Souza tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sherman paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Souza is looking to clinch but Sherman is avoiding it.

Souza drops his hands momentarily and Sherman takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Souza throws a low kick, looking for Sherman's leg but Sherman calmly moves out of range.

Sherman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Souza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sherman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sherman wants to free his trapped foot but Souza is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Sherman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Souza's head.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aviya Sherman wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Sherman cracks a nice hook into Souza's ribs.
Sherman just misses with a punch to the body.

Sherman gets underhooks to prevent Souza's takedown attempt.

Souza works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sherman shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

and Sherman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Souza finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Sherman tries a low kick but Souza avoids it.
Souza shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sherman as he avoids it easily.

Sherman has his feet on Souza's thighs here. He's pushed Souza off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Souza screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
