Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Rolst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Wellington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Mike Rolst has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Rolst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, William Wellington!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rolst lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wellington circles away quickly and effectively.

Wellington pushes Rolst up against the cage in a clinch.

Rolst ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rolst no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wellington is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Wellington drops back looking for a leg! Rolst is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rolst manages to kick Wellington off! Wellington jumps back into Rolst's guard.
Wellington tries to free his leg and advance position but Rolst is retaining full guard.

Wellington trying to control but Rolst is working from the bottom.
Rolst can't keep his opponent in guard - Wellington advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wellington lands a nice short elbow.

Rolst is trying is best to control the position here.
Wellington working the head and body with strikes.
Wellington perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Wellington stops Rolst from getting back to his feet.
Wellington trying to mount his opponent but Rolst defends it.
Wellington working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wellington throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wellington working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Wellington looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Wellington is trying to work for a kimura but Rolst is defending well.
Rolst is looking to improve his position.
Wellington trying to control the action but Rolst is working from the bottom.
Rolst is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Finch Farm that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Wellington looks to land a strike but Rolst avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Wellington passes Rolst's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wellington controlling the action here.
Wellington is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rolst!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wellington thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Wellington dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


No joy there for Rolst, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rolst closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rolst lands in his opponent's guard.

Wellington is looking to stand up but Rolst isn't so interested in that idea.
Rolst is fighting to break Wellington's control of his arms but Wellington is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Wellington gets caught napping as Rolst dives in and scores a takedown. Wellington manages to retain guard.
Rolst knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wellington on the ground.
Rolst pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wellington is keeping the position for now.

Wellington is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rolst is aware though and is defending well.
Wellington bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rolst's guard.

Wellington passes Rolst's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rolst is controlling Wellington's trapped leg to prevent Wellington from advancing to side control.
Wellington trying to mount his opponent but Rolst defends it.
Wellington content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Wellington stands up and beckons Rolst to join him on the feet.

No joy there for Rolst, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wellington shoots for a double leg takedown but Rolst sprawls well. He's pushed Wellington's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wellington blocks a jab.
Rolst darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Wellington fails to land the takedown.
Wellington looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mike Rolst has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Wellington.
Rolst lands an overhand right.

Wellington gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wellington wants to sweep here but Rolst controlling him for the moment.
Wellington has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Rolst has passed into side control.
Wellington gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mike Rolst will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Wellington is trying to stand up here but Rolst is controlling him well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Wellington takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Rolst misses with a combination

and Wellington counters by clinching up.

Wellington pulls guard.
Rolst won't allow Wellington to sweep him here.

Wellington looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Rolst passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wellington manages to get back to half guard.

Wellington is trying to control but can't.
Wellington gets full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wellington is trying to control the position but Rolst postures up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rolst preventing the sweep.
William Wellington has got the better of the ground game so far.

We're going to have a standup here because Mike Rolst wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Wellington wants to control the action here but instead Rolst manages to pass to full mount!

Rolst is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wellington is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Wellington holds on, trying desperately to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to William Wellington.
I think Wellington has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
