Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hugues De Payens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugues De Payens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Harry Callahan!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Payens throws a jab when Callahan was well out of range.

We've been told by De Payens's head coaches at Elite MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Callahan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but De Payens circles away quickly and effectively.

Callahan connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed De Payens momentarily.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Callahan has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Callahan goes for a double leg but De Payens avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as De Payens continues to drive forward.

Callahan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Callahan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

De Payens pushes Callahan away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Callahan gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Callahan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
De Payens is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Callahan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

De Payens fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Callahan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for De Payens, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
