PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Iverson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeanu Dann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Iverson comes to the cage accompanied by Hits From The Bong. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iverson wants to clinch.
Iverson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dann but Dann pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dann shoots in for a double leg but Iverson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Iverson darts in and clinches Dann up against the cage.
Dann is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Iverson jumps guard and drags Dann to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Iverson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dann throws an elbow that misses. Iverson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dann's guard. Nice move by Iverson!
Dann wants to sweep but no luck.

Dann manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Iverson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dann just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Iverson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dann drops down looking for an ankle pick but Iverson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Dann fails with the takedown.
Dann doesn't manage to clinch there - Iverson circles away.
Dann gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Iverson counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dann!

Iverson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dann knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Iverson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Iverson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Iverson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dann knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Iverson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Iverson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Dann's legs.
Dann looks to move to half guard but instead Iverson has passed into mount! Damn!

Dann is squirming around, avoiding Iverson's attempts to control the action.
Iverson avoids the attempt from Dann to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Iverson punishing his opponent with strikes.
Dann wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Iverson struggling to keep hold of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Iverson has his arm under Dann's chin here. Game over son! Iverson squeezes tightly and Dann is forced to tap out!

John Iverson spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
