Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Makao Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Meridius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matsumoto comes into the arena with Sepultura - Territory blaring out of the sound system. Maximus Meridius has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Makao Matsumoto's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meridius fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Meridius misses with a wild combination.
A big left from Meridius misses.
Matsumoto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Meridius's waist but Meridius gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Matsumoto off to one side.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Meridius, right into the meat.

Matsumoto slips under a jab.
Meridius lands a leg kick that knocks Matsumoto off balance momentarily.
Matsumoto has been working on his balance at Red Battle, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Meridius.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Maximus Meridius hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Matsumoto throws a jab when Meridius was well out of range.
Matsumoto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Meridius is fending him off so far but Matsumoto persists. Nope, Meridius circles away and we're back to standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matsumoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Meridius can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Meridius throws a strike but Matsumoto rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Meridius manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Matsumoto manages to get himself to full guard.

Meridius wants to finish this one by submission but Matsumoto is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Meridius.
Matsumoto wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Meridius.
Matsumoto sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maximus Meridius dominated that round.

Meridius throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Meridius pivots, looking for a leg kick but Matsumoto is out of range and Meridius settles back down.
Maximus Meridius seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Matsumoto throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Maximus Meridius is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Meridius.
Meridius lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Both fighters circling a little - Meridius finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Matsumoto finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Meridius's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Matsumoto falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
