Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Jaffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sparky Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaffer comes to the cage accompanied by DubRaider- Starry Eyes. Anderson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Blue clear sky. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jaffer is looking to clinch but Anderson is avoiding it.
Jaffer stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Anderson gets tackled into the cage by Jaffer. Jaffer maintains the clinch.
Jaffer misses with a knee strike.

Anderson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jaffer has Anderson pushed against the cage.
Anderson wants a takedown.
Anderson told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Jaffer prevents a takedown attempt there.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jaffer.

I was talking to Jaffer's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jaffer wants to get back to his feet but Anderson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Anderson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anderson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jaffer wants to stand and escape but Anderson is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anderson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jaffer has his foot on Anderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anderson works his way back into a safe position though.

Anderson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jaffer is just riding it out for now. Anderson eventually gives up the hold.

Jaffer makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Jaffer throws a sloppy head kick and Anderson moves out of range easily.
Anderson shoots in but Jaffer avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jaffer throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Jaffer shoots in for a takedown but Anderson shows good takedown defense.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Anderson swats away the attempt to clinch by Jaffer.

so Anderson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jaffer looking for a triangle here. Anderson is fighting it but it looks tight! Jaffer pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Anderson is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). James Jaffer!
James Jaffer retains his featherweight title!
A relieved looking James Jaffer thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
