The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gomez but Gomez pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Gomez feints and as King raises his hands in defense, Gomez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
King working a defensive guard but Gomez passes into half guard.
King wants to control but Gomez is keeping busy.
Gomez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Gomez stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows King to get to his feet.
King pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gomez is out of range and King settles back down.
King doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gomez counters with a good low kick that King was not able to check.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Timo Gomez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom King.

Gomez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gomez lands in his opponent's guard.
King trying to keep a closed guard but Gomez is proving a slippery customer.

King swats away the attempt to clinch by Gomez.

and Gomez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gomez.
Gomez is breathing heavily.

King is trying to land a reversal but Gomez doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle.
