Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stefan Schellmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Huerta!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schellmann misses with a takedown attempt - Huerta sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Schellmann takes a swing at Huerta's ribcage but misses.
Schellmann has his takedown stuffed
and Huerta counters with a lovely shot to the body.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stefan Schellmann. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Schellmann is trying to control Huerta's posture but Huerta avoids it.

Huerta tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Huerta is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Schellmann is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Huerta in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Schellmann managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Huerta.

Huerta goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Schellmann has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Huerta but great work by Schellmann.

Schellmann tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Schellmann wants to take a breather but Huerta manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Schellmann.
Schellmann throws an elbow that misses. Huerta uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schellmann's guard. Nice move by Huerta!

Huerta has gone for a leg lock! Schellmann slips out almost immediately though and dives into Huerta's guard.

Huerta is looking for a triangle but Schellmann pushes his legs off easily.

Schellmann is in close to Huerta's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Schellmann stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Huerta swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

so Huerta counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Huerta trying to control but Schellmann is working from the bottom.

Schellmann had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Huerta defends it easily.

Schellmann escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Huerta gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Huerta throws a strike but Schellmann rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Huerta bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Schellmann's guard.

Huerta drops back, looking for a kneebar! Schellmann looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Schellmann looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Schellmann!

Schellmann wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Huerta uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Huerta drops back, looking for a kneebar! Schellmann looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Schellmann looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Schellmann!
Schellmann is looking to take a break and control but Huerta is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Schellmann swings around for an armbar but Huerta sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Schellmann's guard.

Huerta drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Schellmann dives on top into guard.
Schellmann won't allow Huerta to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Schellmann tries to free his leg and advance position but Huerta is retaining full guard.
Schellmann postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Schellmann advances to half guard.
Schellmann throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Huerta avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Schellmann.
Schellmann moves nicely into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Schellmann tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Stefan Schellmann will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Schellmann misses with a wild body shot.
Schellmann tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Huerta was well out of range. Poor timing from Schellmann.
The fighters circle momentarily. Schellmann darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


It looks like Paul Huerta has been cut.
Schellmann throws a hook to the side of Huerta's head but Huerta sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Schellmann bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Huerta's head backwards.
Paul Huerta is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Huerta uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Schellmann.

Huerta gets a double leg takedown into Schellmann's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Huerta postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Huerta wants to control from the top but Schellmann keeps moving.

Huerta with a flurry of punches that miss.
Huerta looking to sit in guard and control but Schellmann gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Huerta is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Huerta maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Schellmann could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Huerta has cracked it and Schellmann is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Huerta!
