PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Flash Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon comes into the arena with Slipknot-The Blister Exists blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Flash Gordon has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Flash Gordon seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Flash Gordon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Harris!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon is looking to clinch but Harris is avoiding it.
Harris looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Gordon moves into the clinch successfully.
Harris has Gordon pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gordon manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Gordon comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Gordon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Harris.

Gordon breaks the clinch.

Gordon clinches up with Harris and pushes him back against the cage.
I was talking to Gordon's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Gordon breaks from the clinch.
Gordon thows a body shot but no joy.

Gordon lands a big shot that drops Harris! Can he finish him?

Harris is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gordon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Harris is still in real trouble! Can Gordon finish him?
Gordon sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Gordon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gordon wants to get up but he can't break Harris's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Gordon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Gordon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gordon trying to control but Harris is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Flash Gordon just wasn't active enough.
Gordon fails in his attempt to clinch.
Gordon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Harris swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A slapping leg kick lands for Gordon.

Gordon moves into the clinch successfully.
Gordon has Harris pressed against the cage.
Harris is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Gordon is defending well.
Flash Gordon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Harris.

Gordon manages to break the clinch.
Gordon and Harris are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Gordon throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Harris into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Gordon knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Flash Gordon!
Flash Gordon decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
