Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 25 - 1, fighting out of New York, Cory Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Forrest Griffin!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel loads up on a big right hand but Griffin slips the punch.
Steel throws a series of punches but Griffin avoids them all with ease.
A head kick misses from Griffin.
Steel lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Steel takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Griffin dodges the punch combination from Steel.
Steel misses the shot to the body.
Griffin tries a head kick but it misses.
Griffin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Steel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Griffin fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Steel.
Steel ducks right into an uppercut from Griffin.
Steel throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steel digs a good body shot into Griffin's ribs.
Steel takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Forrest Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steel cracks a nice hook into Griffin's ribs.
Steel gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Griffin.
Griffin dodges the punch combination from Steel.
Steel throws a series of punches but Griffin moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steel takes one to the side of the head.
Steel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Griffin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Steel is looking to wear down Griffin with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Griffin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Steel takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Griffin misses with a two punch combination.
Steel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Griffin slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Steel cracks Griffin with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Steel gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Steel displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Griffin throws out the jab.
Griffin throws a head kick but Steel moves out of range.
Griffin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Steel throws a body punch but Griffin moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griffin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Griffin misses with a two punch combination.
A big left from Griffin misses.
Nice shot by Griffin.
Griffin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Steel had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Griffin stalks Steel and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Steel's face. Steel staggers backwards, shaken.
Steel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Steel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Steel misses with a looping right.
Steel steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Griffin is out on his feet! Steel sets himself and nearly takes Griffin's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Cory Steel!
After the fight, Cory Steel was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
