The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Arsie defends it nicely.
Arsie fails to land with a series of punches.
Arsie misses the shot to the body.
Gracie throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Arsie moves into the clinch.

Arsie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Arsie drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Arsie would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Gracie is looking to stand up but Arsie isn't so interested in that idea.
Gracie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Gracie misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Arsie is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gracie asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Tozzi Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gracie throws an elbow but Arsie slips to the side and avoids it well.

Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Arsie dives in for a single leg takedown but Gracie sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
