PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Troy Foreman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Piet Skiet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Troy Foreman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Piet Skiet!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foreman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Skiet swivels and escapes.
Skiet misses with a series of wild punches.
Foreman shoots for a double leg takedown but Skiet sprawls well. He's pushed Foreman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Skiet tries to score a power double leg takedown but Foreman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Skiet somewhat.
Skiet tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Foreman counters with a right hand to the body.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Troy Foreman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Skiet is controlling the pace.
Foreman is trying to maintain the position but Skiet is very close to passing his half guard.

Foreman tries to get to full guard but Skiet has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Foreman wants to improve his position but Skiet is controlling well.

Foreman manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Foreman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Foreman gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Foreman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Foreman tries to break the clinch but Skiet is controlling the position.

Skiet wants to stall.
Skiet is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Skiet has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Foreman is trying to keep an underhook but Skiet manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Skiet is trying to control the action in half guard but Foreman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Skiet might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Foreman haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Foreman flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Skiet trying to control from Foreman's half guard. Foreman has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Foreman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Skiet gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Skiet defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Foreman.
Skiet throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Foreman's waist but Foreman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Skiet off to one side.
Skiet shoots in and drives through. Foreman sprawls well.
Skiet throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Skiet.

Foreman lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Skiet avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Skiet darts in looking for a takedown but Foreman gets double underhooks and turns Skiet into the cage.

Foreman manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Skiet jumps guard but Foreman turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Foreman manages to break the clinch.
Skiet misses with a series of wild punches.
Foreman goes for a double leg but Skiet avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Skiet continues to drive forward.
Skiet wants to get back to striking at distance but Foreman won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Foreman decides to pull guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Foreman lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Skiet!
Skiet keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Piet Skiet will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Foreman shoots in for a double leg but Skiet sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Foreman shoots in but Skiet avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Skiet shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Foreman wants to get back to full guard.
Piet Skiet has got the better of the ground game so far.
Foreman is staying active underneath Skiet, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Foreman wants to control but Skiet is keeping busy.
Foreman tries to roll over but Skiet keeps him under control.
Skiet is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Foreman manages to get to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Piet Skiet was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Skiet tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Skiet misses with a takedown attempt - Foreman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Skiet fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Skiet changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Foreman tries to avoid it but Skiet manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Foreman to the ground. Foreman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Skiet is breathing heavily.
Skiet tries to score a power double leg takedown but Foreman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Skiet somewhat.
Skiet dives in and grabs Foreman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Foreman pushes down on Skiet's head and hops out.

Foreman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Skiet to the mat! Skiet manages to get full guard.

Foreman stands and steps away. Skiet gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Foreman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Foreman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Skiet pinned against the cage. Skiet gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Foreman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Foreman has a takedown stuffed.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Skiet fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Piet Skiet will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Foreman shoots and misses
and Skiet counters with a two punch combo.
Skiet tries to clinch up but Foreman circles away and keeps his distance.
Skiet looks to score with a jab to the body but Foreman is just out of range.
Skiet fails with an attempt to clinch.
Foreman fails with the takedown
and Skiet counters with a thumping low kick.
Skiet shoots in but no luck this time.
Skiet lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Foreman circles away quickly and effectively.
Foreman scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Skiet throws a head kick but Foreman moves out of range.
Skiet takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Skiet fails to land the takedown.
Skiet feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Foreman's calf.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Skiet moves in looking to clinch but Foreman pushes him off.
Skiet tries to clinch there but Foreman circles away.
Foreman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Troy Foreman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Foreman unloads a knee to the mid-section. Skiet lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Skiet is trying to force a seperation but Foreman has the dominant position.
Skiet is working for takedown but Foreman is calmly controlling the position for now.
Foreman comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Foreman as Skiet tries to tie him up.

Foreman jumps guard.
Foreman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Foreman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Foreman has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Skiet off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Skiet feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Skiet distracts Foreman with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Foreman wants to stand and escape but Skiet is having none of it.
Skiet stands up over Foreman, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foreman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Skiet's guard.
Skiet keeping full guard, as Foreman tries to pass.
Skiet tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Foreman wants to pass the guard but Skiet is keeping the position.
Foreman's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Foreman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Skiet is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Skiet has escaped and now he's on top!
Foreman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Skiet content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Skiet scoring with some ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Skiet landing some decent shots from guard.
Foreman trying to keep a closed guard but Skiet is proving a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Piet Skiet.
I've got Skiet winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
