PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Captain Caveman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Romo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caveman comes to the cage accompanied by Captain Caveman Intro. Silva comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mad Cobra - Put Gunshot kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Captain Caveman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Romo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caveman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Silva.
Caveman scores with a sloppy right hand. Silva should have avoided that one.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
A bone on bone clash there as Silva blocks the leg kick.
Caveman closes the distance but Silva moves to the side
letting Silva counter with a right hand.
Silva has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Caveman wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance.
Caveman scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Silva doesn't seem bothered though.
Caveman lands with a kick to the ribs.
Caveman misses with an uppercut. Silva saw that one coming.
Silva keeps the fight on the outside.
The fighters circle momentarily. Silva darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Silva stuns Caveman with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Caveman. Those never looked like landing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Caveman thows a body shot but no joy.
Caveman missing with a left hand there. Silva was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Caveman misses with a hook.

Silva closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Caveman to the mat! Caveman manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Caveman seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Caveman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caveman is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Captain Caveman.
Caveman wants to slow Silva down by chopping away at his legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Caveman throws a poor cross that misses

and Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Caveman didn't expect that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Caveman trying to control the position here.
Silva slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Caveman is looking for a sweep.
Silva tries to advance to mount but Caveman denies him.
Silva wants to control but Caveman is keeping him busy.
Silva misses with the ground and pound.
Caveman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Silva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Silva has knee on belly and moves into mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva with shots to the head and body - Caveman looks very uncomfortable down there.
Caveman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Silva thowing shots but they're missing.
Silva lands a big shot there that rocks Caveman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Caveman is squirming around, avoiding Silva's attempts to control the action.
Silva is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Caveman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Caveman tries to hold on but Silva postures up.
Silva is landing with some decent strikes but Caveman is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


Caveman is rocked!
Silva loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Caveman scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Silva land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Silva stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Romo Silva!
Romo Silva decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
