The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putin connects with a solid leg kick.
Putin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Alves tries to clinch but Putin moves away
and Putin counters with a slapping leg kick.
Alves blocks a low kick nicely.
Putin fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Alves checks the leg kick nicely there.
Alves shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Alves is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Putin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Lucas Alves was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Alves gets control of Putin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Alves will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Alves has his foot on Putin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Putin works his way back into a safe position though.

Alves seems keen to control Putin's posture.

Alves is working for a kimura but Putin is defending it quite comfortably.
Putin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Alves throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Putin's waist but Putin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alves off to one side.
Alves tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Putin swivels and escapes.

Alves clinches up with Putin and pushes him back against the cage.
Putin is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Alves is keeping busy.

Alves escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Putin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alves.
Peter Putin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Alves.
Putin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Alves has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Putin gets caught napping as Alves dives in and scores a takedown. Putin manages to retain guard.
Alves is breathing heavily.

Putin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alves gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
