Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elliot Ness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Orwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Orwell has chosen Omen as his entrance music. Owen Orwell will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ness scores with a hook to the body. Orwell takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Ness closes the distance and clinches.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Ness is trying to push Orwell away but Orwell has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Ness gets control of Orwell's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ness will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Orwell drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ness dives on top into guard.

Ness stands up and waves to Orwell to follow him.
Orwell takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Ness swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Orwell to counter with a crisp jab.
Orwell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Orwell dodges the punch combination from Ness.
Ness misses with a looping left.

Orwell shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ness sprawls well. Ness wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Orwell gets slowly back to his feet.
Orwell blocks a head kick by Ness.

Ness fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Orwell sprawls well initially but Ness persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ness is controlling the pace.
Orwell is trying to get back to full guard.

Orwell is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ness pulls his head out easily.

Orwell tries to roll over but Ness keeps him under control.

Ness is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Orwell defends it well.

Ness's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Orwell tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ness in particular looking to stall.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Orwell tries to get to full guard but Ness has control of the leg.

Elliot Ness has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Ness lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Orwell circles away quickly and effectively.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ness.
Orwell tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Orwell is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ness has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Orwell is trying to control Ness's posture but Ness avoids it.
Ness controls the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ness tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Orwell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Elliot Ness dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Orwell checks a low kick from Ness.
Ness misses with a few strikes there.
Orwell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ness sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Orwell somewhat.

and Orwell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Orwell counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ness!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ness tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Orwell wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Orwell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Orwell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Orwell wants to stand but Ness is controlling his arm.
Ness manages to get back to half guard.
Orwell wants to pass the guard but Ness is defending well.

Orwell wants to work for an arm triangle but Ness is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Ness is controlling Orwell's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Ness wants to get back to his feet.
Orwell wants to pass the guard but Ness is defending well.
Orwell is looking to take a break and control but Ness is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ness is concentrating on defense, preventing Orwell from advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ness tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A chopping leg kick lands by Ness.

Orwell doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ness counters with an inside leg kick.

Ness moves into the clinch.
Ness prevents a takedown attempt there.
Elliot Ness has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Owen Orwell.

Orwell is trying to trip Ness. He has hold of a leg but Ness is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Orwell persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Owen Orwell has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ness pushes Orwell off and gets back to his feet.
Ness explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Ness throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Orwell.

No luck for Orwell with that takedown attempt.

Ness closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Orwell quickly recovers to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ness has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ness trying to mount his opponent but Orwell defends it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ness in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Elliot Ness.

Ness darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Elliot Ness will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Ness goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Orwell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ness defends it nicely.
Ness throws a series of punches but Orwell avoids them all with ease.

and Orwell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ness's guard now.

Ness has his feet on Orwell's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Ness lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ness.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Orwell throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Ness knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Orwell on the ground.
Orwell tries to stand but Ness is controlling his head.
Orwell throws a strike aimed at the side of Ness's head but Ness avoids it well.

Orwell goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ness rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Orwell's guard! Nice work there by Ness!

Ness stays in close to Orwell's body and controls the position.
Orwell wants to sweep but no luck.
Ness pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Orwell is keeping the position for now.
Orwell is trying to control the position but Ness postures up.
Ness's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Ness has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Orwell to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ness is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Orwell pulls down on the head and he's put Ness to sleep! This one is all over!
