PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joey Durant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joey Durant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Green!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durant throws a head kick that misses.
Green throws a series of punches but Durant moves out of range.
Green fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Durant throws a lazy head kick
and Green counters with a body kick that stops Durant in his tracks momentarily.
Green misses with a takedown attempt - Durant sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Green closes the distance and clinches.

Green is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Durant can't fight it off and eventually Green manages to take the fight to the floor. Durant looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Durant preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Durant working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Green doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Green manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Green stands up and waves to Durant to follow him.

Green tries to land a knee to the head but Durant blocks with his arms.
Durant is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Durant gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Green.
Joey Durant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Green.
Durant using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Green has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Green is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Green's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Green shoots in but no luck this time.

Green closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Durant's guard.

Durant looking for a triangle here. Green is fighting it but it looks tight! Durant pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Green is tapping out - this one is all over!

A very excited looking Joey Durant rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
