Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Strikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephan Walter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 31 - 1, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephan Walter!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strikes misses with a head kick.
Walter shoots in looking for a takedown. Strikes tries to sprawl out of it but Walter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Strikes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Walter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Strikes is looking to regain half guard here but Walter keeps moving and retains side control.
Strikes is working hard here to advance position.
Strikes is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Rift Fighting Academy, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walter tries for a kimura but Strikes is defending well.
Strikes parries the strikes from Walter easily there. Walter is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Strikes to escape.
Strikes wants to control but Walter postures up.
Strikes is looking for a sweep.

Walter cracks Strikes with a big elbow.

Walter thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Walter goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Strikes rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Walter's guard! Nice work there by Strikes!

Walter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Strikes, pushing him back against the cage.

Strikes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Strikes goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Stephan Walter has been cut.
Strikes stuffs the takedown.
Carlos Strikes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephan Walter.
Walter swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Walter closes the distance and clinches up with Strikes, looking for a takedown. Walter pushes Strikes against the cage but Strikes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Strikes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Walter.
Stephan Walter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Strikes. Walter does a little dance to reset his feet.
Walter moves to clinch but Strikes breaks away

and Strikes counters with a head kick that drops Walter to the mat! Walter scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Strikes gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Walter trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Walter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Walter wants to pass the guard but Strikes is defending well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Strikes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Walter pulls his head out easily.

Strikes's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Walter blocks a head kick by Strikes.
Walter throws a right hand that Strikes ducks under and follows up with a left that Strikes also avoids with ease.

Strikes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Walter to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Strikes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Walter lands a couple of digs.
Strikes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walter is one step ahead there.

Walter has gone for a leg lock! Strikes slips out almost immediately though and dives into Walter's guard.

Walter trying to keep a closed guard but Strikes is proving a slippery customer.
Strikes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walter is keeping the position for now.
Strikes wants to stand but Walter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Strikes stops Walter from standing up.

Strikes wants to control from the top but Walter keeps moving.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Strikes throws a right hand that Walter ducks under and follows up with a left that Walter also avoids with ease.

Walter pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Strikes back to the cage. Walter follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Walter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Strikes moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Walter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Strikes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Strikes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Walter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Strikes is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Walter jumps guard but Strikes turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Strikes tries to clinch but Walter moves out of range.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Strikes holds on and takes a little breather.

Strikes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Carlos Strikes.

Strikes gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Walter.

Strikes drives through and clinches with Walter against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Strikes blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Strikes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Walter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Carlos Strikes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Walter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Strikes is fending him off so far but Walter persists. Nope, Strikes circles away and we're back to standing.

Walter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Walter shoots in but Strikes avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Walter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Strikes pinned against the cage. Strikes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Walter shoots for a double leg takedown but Strikes sprawls well. He's pushed Walter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Strikes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
