The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin has his takedown stuffed
and Maximov counters with a nice low kick that buckles Martin's knee momentarily.
Martin with a poor takedown
and Maximov counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Maximov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Martin tries for a takedown but Maximov circles away easily
and Maximov counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Maximov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Martin circles away quickly and effectively.

Maximov pushes Martin up against the cage in a clinch.

Martin goes for a takedown attempt but Maximov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Maximov thows a body shot but no joy.
Martin fails with the takedown
and Maximov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Martin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Maximov on his heels. He'll look to pass Maximov's guard now, I'm sure.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Maximov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Martin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maximov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Martin wants to control from the top but Maximov keeps moving.

Martin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Martin pushes down on Maximov's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Martin slows the pace down in half guard.
Martin uses his free foot to push down on Maximov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maximov.

Maximov is squirming around, avoiding Martin's attempts to control the action.

Martin looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Martin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Martin has isolated one of Maximov's arms. Maximov looking to fight him off but Martin twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
