PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Guymon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amir Faheem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Guymon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to To Hell and Back. Faheem comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Tunak Tunak Tun kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Guymon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Guymon fails with a takedown attempt.

Guymon has Faheem up against the cage in a clinch.
Guymon tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Faheem smiles and moves away.

Guymon has closed the distance and engaged Faheem in a clinch.

Faheem ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Faheem no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Faheem has his foot on Guymon 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Guymon works his way back into a safe position though.

Guymon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Faheem stands and throws Guymon 's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Faheem tries to advance to mount but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Guymon 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Faheem looks up at the clock and then as Guymon takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Faheem smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Guymon misses with a strike from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Faheem looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Guymon tries to buck Faheem off but Faheem is having none of it.

Faheem creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Guymon sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Faheem decides to stand back up.
Faheem avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Guymon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Guymon rushes Faheem and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Guymon wants to clinch up but Faheem keeps it at a distance.
Guymon lands a head kick. Faheem smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Guymon tries to close the distance and clinch but Faheem swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Guymon cracks Faheem with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

A close round but Amir Faheem will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Guymon lands a jab-cross combination.
Faheem shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Guymon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Guymon wants to clinch up but Faheem keeps it at a distance.
Guymon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Guymon tries to clinch but Faheem moves out of range.
Guymon throws a sloppy head kick and Faheem moves out of range easily.
Guymon doesn't manage to clinch there - Faheem circles away.
Faheem looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Guymon is fending him off so far but Faheem persists. Nope, Guymon circles away and we're back to standing.

Faheem buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Faheem has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Faheem drops an elbow to the side of Guymon 's head.
Faheem wants to pass to mount but Guymon is defending the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Guymon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Faheem swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Faheem throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Guymon lands a slapping body shot.
Guymon tries to clinch but Faheem moves away

and Faheem counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Guymon 's guard now.

Faheem gets to his feet. Guymon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Horrible takedown by Faheem or perhaps it was just good defense by Guymon which made him look bad.

Amir Faheem showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Faheem has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Guymon 's face.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Guymon throws a sloppy head kick and Faheem moves out of range easily.

Guymon throws a hook but Faheem blocks it.
Guymon takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Faheem closes the distance and clinches up with Guymon , looking for a takedown. Faheem pushes Guymon against the cage but Guymon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Guymon with that takedown attempt.
Faheem fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Guymon .
Guymon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Faheem feints and as Guymon raises his hands in defense, Faheem changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
