PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derfel Cadarn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nate Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Cadarn.
Diaz just misses with a punch to the body.
Cadarn throws a leg kick that misses.
Cadarn tries a head kick but it misses.
Cadarn throws a sloppy head kick and Diaz moves out of range easily.
Cadarn ducks right into an uppercut from Diaz.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd cheers as Diaz lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cadarn doesn't seem phased though.

Diaz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cadarn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Cadarn on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cadarn tries to get out of the position.

Diaz has control of Cadarn's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cadarn regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Diaz has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Cadarn has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Diaz clinches up with Cadarn and pushes him back against the cage.

Cadarn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cadarn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Cadarn slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cadarn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cadarn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz has his foot on Cadarn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cadarn works his way back into a safe position though.

Diaz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cadarn defends it easily.
Diaz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cadarn manages to get himself to full guard.
Diaz wants to pass the guard but Cadarn is keeping the position.
