PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Dark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Napoleon White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Napoleon White will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Dark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Napoleon White!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White throws a left and a right that both miss

and Dark counters with a nice double leg into guard.

White working for a triangle but Dark defends it easily.
Dark throwing strikes but missing.
White has momentary wrist control but Dark slips an elbow through the middle.
We've been hearing that Dark has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dark is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because White is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Napoleon White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That was a close round but I would say that Jay Dark will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now White is on top in guard.

Dark moves out of range as White throws a body kick.
Jay Dark is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
White looks to land a combination but Dark avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

White throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dark chips away with some ground and pound.
White utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dark has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Dark makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Dark postures up and lands a big shot to White's brow.
Dark sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Dark has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dark, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Jay Dark rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
