Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vinnie Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Condit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Condit has chosen Rage Against The Machine as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vinnie Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of The Island, The Condit!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Condit with a poor takedown

and Smith moves into the clinch.
Condit has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Condit tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Smith throws an elbow but it misses.
Smith managing to block the knees to the body from Condit.

Condit manages to break the clinch.
Condit closes the distance but Smith moves to the side

and Smith moves into the clinch.
Condit is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Condit misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Condit pulls guard effortlessly.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Condit is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Condit manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Condit's guard.
Condit is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Smith definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Smith slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Smith tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Condit is not content to let Smith control the position.
Smith working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Condit has escaped the position, nice work there.

Smith swings around for an armbar but Condit sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Smith's guard.
Smith is looking to sweep but instead, Condit has passed into half guard.
Condit lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Smith wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Condit missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Smith has his hands clasped together around Condit's back. He's all about the action.
Condit performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The fighters are battling for position here. Smith manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Condit looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Condit seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vinnie Smith will probably get the nod.

Smith rushes Condit and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Condit prevents Smith from breaking the clinch.
Smith is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Condit gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Condit gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Condit breaks the clinch.
An inside leg kick lands from Smith.
Condit fails with the takedown.
Condit tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Condit looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Condit is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Smith working the ground and pound but Condit is defending the strikes.
Condit managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Smith.
Condit tries to buck Smith off but Smith is having none of it.
Vinnie Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Smith wants to control but Condit is keeping him busy.
Condit wants to get back to his feet.

Condit is holding Smith down, trying to stall.

Condit is looking to regain half guard here but Smith keeps moving and retains side control.
Smith prevents Condit from escaping the position.

Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Condit knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Condit, who protects the arm well.
Smith lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Condit down.

Condit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Smith advances to full mount.
Smith working the ground and pound effectively.
Smith wants to control but instead Condit manages to regain half guard.

Smith wants to work for an arm triangle but Condit is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vinnie Smith dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Condit tries to clinch but Smith moves away
and Smith counters with a good low kick that Condit was not able to check.

Condit had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
Smith trying to control but Condit is working from the bottom.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Condit is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Condit manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Condit's guard.

Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Condit is retaining full guard.
Condit is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Smith stands up over Condit, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Condit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Condit is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Condit wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position.
Condit is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Condit gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Condit stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Condit wanted to stand there but Smith had control of the position.
Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Condit in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Smith controls Condit momentarily but Condit frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Condit rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Condit lands an elbow inside.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Vinnie Smith.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
