Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quentin Emerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mason Vrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quentin Emerson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mason Vrez!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vrez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vrez lands in his opponent's guard.
Emerson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Vrez sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Vrez throws a big elbow that misses.
Emerson keeping full guard, as Vrez tries to pass.
Vrez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Vrez stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Emerson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Vrez closes the distance but Emerson moves to the side

and Emerson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vrez's guard.
Emerson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Vrez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Vrez pulls Emerson in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vrez is on top in guard.
Vrez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Vrez wants to pass the guard but Emerson is keeping the position.
Emerson is looking to stand up but Vrez isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vrez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Emerson's head.
Emerson controls Vrez momentarily but Vrez frees himself.
Vrez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vrez wants to control from the top but Emerson keeps moving.
Vrez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vrez stopping the sweep attempt from Emerson.

Vrez gets to his feet. Emerson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Vrez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Emerson tries to roll over but Vrez keeps him under control.
Vrez wants to take a breather but Emerson is having none of it.
Vrez is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Emerson is looking to improve his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vrez in particular looking to stall.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Emerson is trying is best to control the position here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mason Vrez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Vrez wants to clinch up but Emerson keeps it at a distance.
Emerson avoids a punch combination nicely.

Vrez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Emerson is breathing heavily.

Vrez stands up from half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vrez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Emerson to the ground. Vrez is now in Emerson's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vrez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Vrez won't allow Emerson to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason Vrez dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Vrez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Emerson's half guard.

Vrez is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Vrez seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Emerson is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
