Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Noel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Doc Blood!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blood gets a takedown into half guard.
Blood is pressing down on Noel's thigh, looking to free his foot. Noel is holding on for now.
Noel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Blood seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Noel is controlling Blood's trapped leg to prevent Blood from advancing to side control.
Noel wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Noel is holding on to half guard well.
Noel blocking the ground and pound attempt from Blood.
Noel is pressing down on Blood's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Noel looking for a sweep. Not yet Noel, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Noel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blood's guard.
Blood wants to stand up but Noel is controlling him.
Noel makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Noel stays in close to Blood's body and controls the position.
Noel preventing the sweep.
Noel wants to stand but Blood has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Noel content to stall in guard here.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Daniel Noel wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Blood dives in and scores a takedown into Noel's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Noel is looking to stand up but Blood isn't so interested in that idea.
Blood throwing strikes from guard but Noel blocks nicely.
Blood would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Blood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Noel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Noel seems keen to control Blood's posture.
Noel pushes a forearm under Blood's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Blood is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
