Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jason McKinney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Corellis Mandolin!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKinney catches Mandolin with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Mandolin has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by McKinney.
Mandolin fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McKinney.
Mandolin tries to land a body kick
and McKinney counters with a two punch combo.
McKinney shoots in looking for a takedown. Mandolin tries to sprawl out of it but McKinney keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mandolin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mandolin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mandolin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McKinney struggling a bit here.

Mandolin decides to stand back up. Mandolin steps back and let's McKinney get back to his feet.
Mandolin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McKinney manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

McKinney looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mandolin is fending him off so far but McKinney persists. Nope, Mandolin circles away and we're back to standing.
We've been told by McKinney's head coaches at Cozad The Island that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Mandolin takes the fight into the clinch.
Mandolin wants to break free but McKinney has control.

Mandolin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mandolin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mandolin wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason McKinney. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mandolin tries a head kick but it misses.
Jason McKinney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mandolin misses with a wild combination.
McKinney tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mandolin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

McKinney throws a sloppy head kick and Mandolin moves out of range easily.

McKinney scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
McKinney is breathing heavily.
Mandolin misses with a double jab.
Mandolin misses with a two punch combination.
Mandolin throws a combination. McKinney tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mandolin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

McKinney has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mandolin wants to get back to striking at distance but McKinney won't allow it.

McKinney tries for a takedown. No joy.

McKinney successfully pulls guard.

McKinney working for a triangle but Mandolin defends it easily.
McKinney is trying to control the position from the bottom.

McKinney looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

McKinney is pulling down on Mandolin's head to control his posture.
McKinney is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mandolin is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but McKinney has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Mandolin is looking to defend but McKinney has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Mandolin! McKinney pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Mandolin taps out and this one is all over!
