Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Byron Travis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Byron Travis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Santos!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Travis tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Santos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santos drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Travis dives on top into guard.

Travis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Santos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Travis has managed to get both his arms back between Santos's legs - danger averted.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Santos counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Santos.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Byron Travis will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Travis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Travis is looking for a sweep. Santos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Byron Travis just wasn't active enough.

Santos rushes Travis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Santos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Travis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Santos slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Santos throws an elbow but Travis slips to the side and avoids it well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Travis is looking to reverse the position.

Santos tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Santos has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fernando Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Santos has Travis pressed against the cage, preventing Travis from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Santos gets control of Travis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Santos will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Travis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Santos is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Travis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Santos is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Travis, into his guard.

Travis is sitting in close to Santos's body. Santos has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Travis is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Travis is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Santos.
