Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hassan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hassan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Carroll works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Carroll could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Carroll might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Carroll seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hassan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hassan felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Hassan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carroll is working away from the top position though.

Carroll is stalling here. Hassan is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Carroll seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hassan has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Hassan is looking to take a break and control but Carroll is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Carroll darts in looking for a takedown but Hassan gets double underhooks and turns Carroll into the cage.

Carroll jumps guard and drags Hassan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Hassan decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

and Carroll moves into the clinch.
Hassan using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Carroll has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
The referee is keeping an eye on Carroll - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A head punch on the inside from Hassan fails to land.

Hassan jumps guard but Carroll stands there with Hassan around his waist. Hassan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Carroll manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Carroll wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hassan doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hassan wants to control but Carroll passes easily into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hershel Carroll will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Carroll misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Hershel Carroll is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hassan tries to clinch but Carroll is having none of it.
Hassan leaves Carroll with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hassan wants to clinch

and Carroll counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Carroll.
Hassan misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hassan is trying to stall.
Carroll wants a takedown.
Hassan is trying to pull guard but Carroll has him pressed against the cage.

Carroll breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hassan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carroll scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hassan in his tracks.

Carroll connects with an inside leg kick.

Carroll clinches with his opponent.
Hassan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Carroll avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carroll wants to stand but Hassan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hassan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carroll is one step ahead there.

Carroll sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hassan's guard.
Carroll trying to control the action but Hassan is working from the bottom.
Hassan wants to get back to his feet.
Carroll is keen to just control but Hassan is a slippery customer.
Hassan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carroll's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carroll's back!

Hassan is looking for the choke from the back position but Carroll is controlling his hands well.

Carroll manages to escape to his feet.
Carroll tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hassan defends well and Carroll ends up having to push Hassan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Carroll works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Carroll throws a big right hand that misses.
Hassan has a closed guard, preventing Carroll from standing up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well Carroll has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
