PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kain Saint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pounder comes to the cage accompanied by People in Planes-Last Man Standing. Saint has chosen Be Aggresive by Faith No More as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Kain Saint!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saint shoots in for a takedown but Pounder shows good takedown defense.

Saint closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pounder's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Saint won't allow Pounder to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saint stands up over Pounder, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Saint wants to stand but Pounder is controlling his posture from full guard.
Saint throwing strikes from guard but Pounder blocks nicely.
Saint is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Pounder pushes Saint off and scrambles back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pounder shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Saint counters with an outside leg kick.

Saint shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pounder defends it nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Saint as Pounder shoots in.
Saint looks to clinch
and Pounder makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Pounder keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Saint gets a clinch.

Pounder is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Saint is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Pounder. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Saint misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pounder.
Pounder blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Saint breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Saint shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pounder sprawls well. Pounder wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Saint gets slowly back to his feet.
Saint dives in and grabs Pounder's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pounder pushes down on Saint's head and hops out.

Saint tries to clinch up but Pounder circles away and keeps his distance.

Saint clinches.
Saint looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Saint throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Pounder managing to block the knees to the body from Saint.
Saint lands an elbow that stopped Pounder in his tracks for a moment.
Saint is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Pounder is defending well for now.
Saint misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pounder.
Saint is looking to break free of the clinch but Pounder has double underhooks.
Saint is trying to break the clinch but Pounder has him pressed against the cage.
Saint tries a body shot but Pounder blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pounder blocks the elbow strike.
Still in the clinch, Saint scores with a nice short uppercut.
Pounder jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Saint walks away with a smile on his face. Pounder gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Saint looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Saint has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pounder is working hard here to advance position.

Pounder has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Saint to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Pounder is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Saint pulls down on the head and he's put Pounder to sleep! This one is all over!
