The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West throws out a loose jab but Velcic uses good head movement to avoid it.
West misses with a jab, cross combination.
West takes one to the side of the head.
West scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Nice sprawl there from West as Velcic shoots in.

Velcic throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. West tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Velcic is in West's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Velcic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

West is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

BOOM! Velcic connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Velcic has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Velcic postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have West in real trouble here! The ref calls for West to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
