Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Sinclare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Varlianth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Sinclare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Varlianth!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sinclare tries for a takedown but Varlianth sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Varlianth scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Varlianth throws a push kick but Sinclare slaps the foot to one side.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sinclare looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Varlianth defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sinclare.
A right-left combo lands from Varlianth.

and Varlianth counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Varlianth bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Varlianth decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Sinclare tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Varlianth has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Sinclare is looking to control Varlianth's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sinclare avoid being mounted?

John Varlianth showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Varlianth changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sinclare looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sinclare tries to bench press Varlianth off him but Varlianth keeps the position.

Varlianth stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Sinclare tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Varlianth counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Varlianth scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Varlianth drives through and clinches with Sinclare against the cage.
Varlianth can't break the clinch.

Sinclare breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sinclare takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Sinclare throws a push kick but Varlianth slaps the foot to one side.

Varlianth uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sinclare.

Varlianth shoots in and gets a takedown into Sinclare's guard.
Sinclare can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Varlianth controls the pace.

Varlianth wants to control from the top but Sinclare keeps moving.
Varlianth engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

John Varlianth has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Varlianth closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sinclare did well to prevent Varlianth getting side control.

Varlianth is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Varlianth seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sinclare does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sinclare goes for a takedown attempt but Varlianth pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Varlianth pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Varlianth connects with a body shot that sends Sinclare's belly button to the back.
Sinclare swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Varlianth moves into range and clinches up with Sinclare.
John Varlianth is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Varlianth gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Varlianth wants to free his trapped foot but Sinclare is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Sinclare trying to hold on to Varlianth's head to control him but Varlianth postures up.
Varlianth wants to control but Sinclare is keeping him busy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sinclare tries to kick Varlianth off but Varlianth keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

John Varlianth comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Varlianth has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
