Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darren Coulter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greg Davis!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis tries a head kick but it misses.
Coulter shoots for a takedown but Davis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Davis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Davis prevents Coulter from improving his position.
Coulter is looking to control Davis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Coulter avoid being mounted?
Davis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Coulter gets back to full guard.
Coulter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Greg Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davis tries to keep at a distance but Coulter has taken the fight into the clinch.
Coulter is pressed up against the cage. Davis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Coulter down to the mat. Coulter avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Coulter clinches up with Davis and pushes him back against the cage.
Coulter has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Davis uses from the top position.

Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Coulter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Coulter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Coulter keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Coulter pulls Davis in close to prevent any damage.
Davis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Greg Davis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Coulter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Davis to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Davis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Davis wants to control from the top but Coulter keeps moving.

That was a close round but I would say that Darren Coulter will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Davis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Coulter but Coulter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Coulter closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Davis's guard.

Coulter decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Davis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Coulter throws a sloppy head kick and Davis moves out of range easily.
Davis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Coulter as he avoids it easily.

Coulter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Coulter showed some decent athleticism there.
Coulter wants to take a breather but Davis is having none of it.

Davis looks like he's trying to stand up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
