PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Slevin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dom DeNardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slevin comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Enter Sandman. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Slevin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dom DeNardo!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slevin connects with a jab.
Slevin throws a quick inside leg kick.
Good exchange - Slevin coming out on top.
An inside leg kick lands from DeNardo.
Slevin avoids the head kick by DeNardo.
A good leg kick by DeNardo.
DeNardo closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Slevin, right into the meat.

DeNardo instigates a clinch.
Slevin pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Slevin scores with a nice hook to the head.
Slevin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Slevin.
DeNardo lands a left hand.
Slevin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
DeNardo tries to work over Slevin's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Slevin lands with a left to the head.
DeNardo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Slevin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Slevin blocking some punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slevin is pressed up against the cage. DeNardo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Slevin down to the mat. Slevin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Slevin looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Slevin moves into range and connects with a jab.
DeNardo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Slevin lets loose with a powerful body kick. DeNardo will feel that in the morning.
Slevin scores with a crisp jab that stopped DeNardo in his tracks.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Slevin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Slevin misses with the combination.
A head kick misses from Slevin.
DeNardo misses with a hook.
Tony Slevin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
DeNardo blocks a head kick by Slevin.
Slevin walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. DeNardo checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Slevin lands a nice leg kick that just misses DeNardo's sensitive parts.
Slevin finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Donk. Slevin catches DeNardo right on the button with a cross.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slevin fails to land with a series of punches.
DeNardo punishes Slevin's body with a nice straight punch.
DeNardo lands a jab to the head.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Slevin.
Slevin delivers a nice body kick.

Slevin drops DeNardo with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but DeNardo looks back up at him and smiles so Slevin waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


DeNardo is rocked!

DeNardo takes the fight into the clinch.
DeNardo is still on wobbly legs! Can Slevin finish him?
Slevin scores with a nice hook to the head.
Slevin swings wildly with an uppercut but DeNardo uses good head movement to avoid it.
A head punch blocked on the inside by DeNardo.
Slevin lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Slevin blocks a punch to the side of the head.
DeNardo blocks an uppercut.
DeNardo tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Slevin throws a punch but it's blocked by DeNardo.
A hook to the body from DeNardo.
DeNardo seems to have recovered his senses.
Slevin throws an elbow but it misses.
Slevin working some nice short punches in the clinch.
DeNardo wants to take the fight to the mat but Slevin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Tony Slevin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dom DeNardo.
DeNardo misses with the head strike.
DeNardo misses with a body punch.
Slevin digs a right hand into DeNardo's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on DeNardo's gas tank.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Slevin lands with a left to the head.
Slevin lands a nice elbow.
Slevin dips a shoulder and cracks DeNardo with a mighty uppercut! DeNardo falls back against the cage and Slevin unloads with a barrage of strikes! DeNardo is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Slevin screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Slevin!
After winning the bout, Tony Slevin thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
