PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shelton Dennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alistair Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alistair Overeem told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dennis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Overeem manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Dennis avoids the head kick by Overeem.
Nice sprawl there from Overeem as Dennis shoots in.
Overeem throws a sloppy head kick and Dennis moves out of range easily.
Dennis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dennis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Overeem's waist but Overeem gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dennis off to one side.

Overeem shoots in looking for a takedown but Dennis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Overeem's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Overeem takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Overeem.

Dennis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
