Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rhett Figueroa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Adao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Adao has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adao tries for a takedown but Figueroa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Adao wants to improve his position but Figueroa is controlling well.
Figueroa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rhett Figueroa wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Figueroa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Figueroa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Figueroa wants to control from the top but Adao keeps moving.

Figueroa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We're going to have a standup here because Rhett Figueroa wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Figueroa shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Figueroa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Adao works his way to full guard. Good work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Adao is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Figueroa defends well.

Adao with a lazy takedown attempt

Adao has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Figueroa avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Adao wants to take the fight to the mat but Figueroa manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Rhett Figueroa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Adao.

Adao drops back looking for a leg! Figueroa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Figueroa manages to kick Adao off! Adao jumps back into Figueroa's guard.

Figueroa is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Figueroa is on top in guard.
Figueroa lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Figueroa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Adao working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Figueroa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Figueroa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Rhett Figueroa has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Figueroa rushes Adao and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Adao has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Figueroa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Adao drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Adao has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Figueroa avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Figueroa is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Figueroa gets control of Adao's arms and successfully pulls guard. Figueroa will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Figueroa has his feet on Adao's thighs here. He's pushed Adao off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Adao screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
