Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Claudio Carpenter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Myles Wilko!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpenter tries to clinch there but Wilko circles away.
Carpenter leaves Wilko with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Wilko shoots in and bounces Carpenter off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Carpenter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Carpenter looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Myles Wilko wasn't active enough on the ground.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carpenter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Carpenter wants to stand but Wilko has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Wilko pulls Carpenter in close to his closed guard and prevents Carpenter from doing any damage or advancing position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carpenter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Wilko is looking to stand up but Carpenter isn't so interested in that idea.

Carpenter has gone for a leg lock! Wilko slips out almost immediately though and dives into Carpenter's guard.
Wilko content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Wilko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carpenter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wilko seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Myles Wilko dominated that round.
That's time! Carpenter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Wilko instigates a clinch.

Carpenter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wilko changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carpenter tries to avoid it but Wilko manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carpenter to the ground. Carpenter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Wilko tries for a takedown but Carpenter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Carpenter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wilko swivels and escapes.
Wilko tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carpenter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wilko somewhat.

Carpenter has Wilko up against the cage in a clinch.
Carpenter pushes off an throws an elbow but Wilko leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Wilko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carpenter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wilko manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Carpenter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wilko tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Carpenter is in Wilko's guard.

Carpenter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wilko can do anything to dispel that myth.

I really don't envy Carpenter right now.
