Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Lurch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gareth Wilcox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lurch comes to the cage accompanied by Won't back down - Tom Petty. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ethan Lurch!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gareth Wilcox!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lurch circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lurch shoots in but Wilcox avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lurch tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wilcox defends well and Lurch ends up having to push Wilcox into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Lurch manages to pull guard.
Lurch working a defensive guard here.
Lurch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lurch looking for a sweep. Not yet Lurch, not yet.
Wilcox prevents Lurch from getting back to his feet.
Wilcox trying to control the position from guard on top but Lurch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lurch working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilcox doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilcox manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lurch is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lurch working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilcox doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilcox manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gareth Wilcox hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
No luck for Lurch with that takedown attempt.
Lurch has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Soul Supremacy Elite Gym in the buildup to the fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ethan Lurch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sloppy strikes from Wilcox. Those never looked like landing.
Wilcox tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lurch shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wilcox counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Wilcox lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lurch backs up against the cage.
Wilcox is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Wilcox stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wilcox wants it to stay on the feet.
A chopping leg kick lands by Wilcox.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lurch takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Ethan Lurch has been cut.
No joy there for Wilcox, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lurch gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Gareth Wilcox!
