Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Layne Shepherd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giovani Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Layne Shepherd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Giovani Silva!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to clinch up but Shepherd circles away and keeps his distance.
Shepherd throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
Shepherd throws a head kick that misses.

Shepherd closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Silva wants to take the fight to the mat but Shepherd manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Silva is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Shepherd gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Silva takes an elbow to the forehead.

It looks like Giovani Silva has been cut.

Silva jumps guard and drags Shepherd to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Shepherd is looking to stand up but Silva won't let him.
Shepherd won't allow Silva to get back to his feet.
Shepherd would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shepherd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shepherd manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Silva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Silva trying to keep a closed guard but Shepherd is proving a slippery customer.
Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shepherd's guard.
Silva throws a strike but Shepherd rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shepherd is looking to stand up but Silva won't let him.

Silva is looking to cinch up a triangle. Shepherd throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Silva's body to avoid the submission. Silva has instead reached around Shepherd's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Silva arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
