PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mr Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and small power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mr Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, small power!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nice takedown defense from power. No joy for Ward on that attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him.
power throws a head kick that Ward semi-blocks.
A slow jab from Ward misses its intended target.
Ward shoots in for a double leg but power sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A nice combination there by power.

power has managed to clinch.

power breaks the clinch.
Both fighters circling a little - power finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

power closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward is breathing heavily.

power stands up and beckons Ward to his feet.

power drives through and clinches with Ward against the cage.
Ward tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. power smiles and moves away.

power takes the fight into the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
power gets underhooks to prevent Ward's takedown attempt.

power has hold of one of Ward's legs. Ward is fighting the takedown attempt but power gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
power pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ward is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

power decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ward, up you get!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jab, jab by power - just one landing.

Ward changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. power looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ward thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
power tries to get back to half guard but can't.
power is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Ward is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but power is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
power tries to buck Ward off but Ward is having none of it.
power really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ward in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... power is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
