The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montana takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Montana shoots in and bounces Makunouchi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Makunouchi is pulling down on Montana's head. It's preventing any offense from Montana, at least for the moment.
Makunouchi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Makunouchi holds on and takes a little breather.
Montana looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ippo Makunouchi wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Makunouchi connects with a crisp jab.

Montana takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Makunouchi catches Montana napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Montana to the canvas!

Montana is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Makunouchi loads up on a big left hand. Montana felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Makunouchi looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Montana can't hide his disappointment, as Makunouchi celebrates the victory.
