Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Sabba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson comes to the cage accompanied by Here comes the boom. Julian Sabba will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sabba tries to clinch up.
Sabba wants to clinch.
Sabba throws a series of punches but Thompson moves out of range.
Sabba doesn't manage to clinch there - Thompson circles away.

Thompson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sabba was covering up waiting for the punch and Thompson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Thompson drops back looking for a leg! Sabba is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sabba manages to kick Thompson off! Thompson jumps back into Sabba's guard.
Thompson pushing down on Sabba's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Thompson uses his free foot to push down on Sabba's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sabba.

Thompson working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Sabba turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Thompson off and cradles Sabba's limp body as Thompson celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). John Thompson!
John Thompson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
