The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magalhaes stuffs the takedown.

Magalhaes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Silva quickly recovers to half guard.
Magalhaes prevents Silva from standing back up.

Magalhaes is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Magalhaes to get the leverage.
Magalhaes is pressing down on Silva's thigh, looking to free his foot. Silva is holding on for now.

Magalhaes seems to be looking for submissions.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Magalhaes on the ground.

Magalhaes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Silva doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Magalhaes.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Magalhaes is nestled in close to Silva, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Magalhaes looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Magalhaes uses his free foot to push down on Silva's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Silva.
Magalhaes has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Clean and Green. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Magalhaes is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Magalhaes extends the arm and Silva is forced to tap!
