Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tristan Alighieri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Earnest Abe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alighieri's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mosquito Song by Queens Of The Stone Age. Abe has chosen Uncle Sam Goddamn as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abe lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Alighieri backs up against the cage.
No joy there for Abe, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Alighieri scores with a nice head shot.

It looks like Earnest Abe has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alighieri misses with a wild body shot.
Alighieri lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Alighieri smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Alighieri.
Alighieri looks to land a combination but Abe avoids it well.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Alighieri has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alighieri is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Alighieri here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Alighieri tries to bum rush Abe with a series of wild strikes but Abe uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Abe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Alighieri drops Abe with a big left hand and mounts him. Abe is in big trouble!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
